When the full sized Persian came out, I was extremely impressed with the design, fit, and finish. However, I decided not to order one because of the size of the blade and living in the city. So, when Sal announced the small Persian, I knew I had to have it and now #170 is in my hands.
Blade- The trademark hump is extremely obvious as it is on the larger Persian but the sweep of the blade isn't as pronounced. I also noticed that unlike the 83mm blade, the 75mm grind doesn't follow the curvature of the blade, it is more straight. However, even with the slight change in design, there is definately no loss of function. This little guy is a real performer. It quickly turned a few boxes in my storage into a big pile of brown ribbon.
Handle- Extremely ergonomic. Not much else to say except that I really like the pronounced guard and the angled butt. The combination of stainless steel and micarta look really classy.
Clip- The angled clip ensures that it won't get in the way of your grip. Excellent design.
Lock- No movement in any way. Rock solid.
Overall- Very well built and has a good heft. The opening is a little stiff but I'm sure it will loosen with time. So in conclusion, if you liked the Persian but wanted a smaller package, go for the 75mm!
