When the full sized Persian came out, I was extremely impressed with the design, fit, and finish. However, I decided not to order one because of the size of the blade and living in the city. So, when Sal announced the small Persian, I knew I had to have it and now #170 is in my hands.

Blade- The trademark hump is extremely obvious as it is on the larger Persian but the sweep of the blade isn't as pronounced. I also noticed that unlike the 83mm blade, the 75mm grind doesn't follow the curvature of the blade, it is more straight. However, even with the slight change in design, there is definately no loss of function. This little guy is a real performer. It quickly turned a few boxes in my storage into a big pile of brown ribbon.

Handle- Extremely ergonomic. Not much else to say except that I really like the pronounced guard and the angled butt. The combination of stainless steel and micarta look really classy.

Clip- The angled clip ensures that it won't get in the way of your grip. Excellent design.

Lock- No movement in any way. Rock solid.

Overall- Very well built and has a good heft. The opening is a little stiff but I'm sure it will loosen with time. So in conclusion, if you liked the Persian but wanted a smaller package, go for the 75mm!

You got 170? That's so cool. I got #171 from New Graham the other day. :)

Ergos are mindblowing. I have average size hands and the Mini is more comfortable to hold than the fullsize version. They are a great value for what you get. A big thanks to Spyderco for making these possible. The Mini is rapidly becoming my favorite of the three Schempp collaborations.

Jazzman, I just got one of these little guys and I am impressed. Your review says it all. The gold spydie on the blade is a nice touch and I am a fan of micarta especially with the bolsters. BTW- Mine has 090 on the blade...

Jazzman, you are correct. I've got #108 and could not be happier with this knife. I also have the big Persian, but prefer the mini.

Mr-B, Very nice review you put together. I had missed it somehow before. I got mine to be my office EDC and to serve in the Gents knife role as you mention. I carried a micarta calypso jr. in micarta for many years and I wanted to try something a bit new. How I wish there was a calypso jr. made just like this!!! I just picked up an almar hawk with the white G-10 at the same time...now that is a pretty little folder....
