mini police necklace and airport security

Has anyone ever worn a mini police necklace through the airport security check point? I know it's small but I'd hate to lose it.

CYA-

I've traveled through a lot of airports, my wife is a travel agent, and have come up with several ways of getting through while carrying knives like the delica and native.

First, always carry a self addressed stamped padded cassette envelope. That way, if the minimum wage rent-a-cops believe that they're going to protect the world from your necklace, you can mail it to yourself.

Second, take the knife off the chain, wear the chain so you can put it in the collection plate. Put your knife in your wallet and make sure side that the knife is on sets close to your butt. You can then put the wallet in the plate if you wish, and I've never yet had anyone open and search my wallet. Or, if you forget your wallet in your pocket the tissue mass of your butt seems to mask the knife from the magnetic detectors.

Third, because the knife is so small, you may not have any problems at all. Just keep it in your pocket with a bunch of other metal stuff like keys and a pen and pencil set. Pick out a busy line, then pull the knife out with all the other junk in your pocket. Put the stuff in the plate with the knife underneath it, and then hold on to the plate while you pat all your pockets down two or three times. By the time you've turned over the plate you have significantly slowed down the line, the r-a-c's are so anxious to get you through that they generally don't even look at the plate.

I used all these methods going through The Portland Oregon and Atlanta Georgia airports just a couple of weeks ago. I was carrying a Cricket as a money clip, a Delica in my wallet (take off the clip and keep it with your loose stuff)and a native in my pocket.

I never even got looked at. And at one point, while I was "struggling" to get my wallet out, one attendant told me just to leave it in my pocket and get through. The delica inside didn't cause a beep.

Your attitude has a lot more to do with things than you might think. You can't go through all nervous and fidgety because they'll check you out just because. My attitude is if my knives are legal where I'm going, then I'm not doing anything wrong. Be pleasant and kind and blend in.

Thanks for the reply Tonie. If a delica passes through without being detected then I'm pretty sure the mini police will pass through also but I'll carry an padded envelope just in case. I also like the knife in the wallet trick. I never thought about doing that, but how did you manage to fit a delica in your wallet? You must have a big wallet. I guess one of those spyder cards would do the job nicely.

hey cya,
all are those points are on point. i travel alot and you can put it in your carry on bag. i do. semper ceya, ceya knife designz.

Hey Ceya One,

What kind of knives have you put in your carry on? I'm amazed they don't give you any trouble.

Dude,
The ti-mini police necklace may escape visual inspection, but the metal scanners and detectors won't let this one slip away....

I usually check in large folding knives in my luggage for air travel. Had a Spyderco Mouse in my bumbag which was allowed. So was the Endura when I was stopped at the LAX last year...
As long as you don't carry them knives on your body, there won't be much hassles and questions to answer...

It's just a standard size folding wallet. But when I take out all the store cards and business cards and video rental cards, etc, it's amazing how much space has been developed by the stretching effect. I just take the clip off and it slides right in.

So are you saying that if I put it on my hand carry I'll be ok? But if I carry it on my body I'll be in trouble? I want to carry a knife on me while on the airplane so putting it in my luggage won't be of much help.

Tonie,
I know how that is. Some of my friends, have wallets 1 1/2" thick! Mine isn't even 1/2".
