Hello,

Are their any videos as yet on the new Recon 1 In XHP? Just wanted to see the new DLC coating put through its paces!?

Thanks!

I can kinda quantify how the coating is holding up:

Refer to Homedepot Medium Box, 18x18x16inch, i shredded at least 3 of the for the past 2 days into pieces that are about 1/2 size of a medium palm on average using my XHP American Lawman and no visible scratch on the coating. Under very bright sunlight on correct angles, you can see some micro scratches along the blade spine where the flat transitions to the curve, but you have to look very hard under the right condition. BTW i also cut up some very solid Costco and Amazon boxes with the same knife.

Many thanks guys, especially for the hands on update! Have been and will continue to hold out for the new blade type and coatings to officially arrive here in the UK! I'm an impatient fool who is after this quite willing to wait for what looks like a superior quality product, as I am a complete novice in regards to knives to the point I am finally willing to admit defeat and invest in a better sharpener for my esee 5 as I don't think my lansky turnbox with its 5 inch rods is big enough lol! Trying and failing to get it as sharp as I've heard 1095 can be! Am assuming for the mini recon 1 clip point the turnbox would be fine!?

I have one of these in my in box to order. I was happy to see how slim the new XHP models are. I have the older AUS8 version. It is simply great. It is nice to know that coating will hold up, but I really wish Cold Steel would give us the option of not having it.

I too wish for uncoated blade. Unless it's a knife for dedicated outdoor use, I like an uncoated blade. In an office, or around town, uncoated blades have less of a "mall ninja" look
