Mini Recon question...

Can someone tell me what the overall thickness of the Mini Recon is, minus the pocket clip ?
I went to the CS website but didn't find it. Seems a little odd they would give the overall thickness of the blade, but not the knife itself...

Also, IIRC, I read that some of the new versions of certain models are now thinner. Does this apply to the Mini Recon ?

Thanks

Scroll down. There is a thread that gives the thickness of both old and new.

Thanks. I found it not long after I posted the question. I did a generic search for Mini Recon and it came up. I usually do a little searching before I ask a question :o

I have old and new versions of the Mini Recon, American Lawman and Hold Out III. All have the thinner, smoother handles in the new versions. I prefer the old handles for the Lawman and Hold Out, and I've swapped the blades, but the thinner handle works really well on the Mini Recon.

Thanks for the input... It has been awhile since I bought a new CS knife. Last year I bought all three hunters. Both Pendeltons and a Master hunter. All three are great knives, but I bonded with the Mini Pendelton and will never get rid of that knife. I like it so much, I'm waiting for the new 3V versions to come out and will have both.

For some reason I can't quit looking at the Mini Recons, so I guess it is time to pick one up...

The Mini-Recon 1s are great.

Just like the larger 4- and 5.5-inch versions, they have great handle ergonomics.

I don't usually go for that many 3-inch or smaller knives because of the handles being too small to hold onto easily.

I thought the handles on the Mini Recons were 4 1/8 inches ?

CS is a little different because some of their folders border on the huge side of things. What they consider Mini, would be considered larger by other companies

The Mini is a great knife. I have one. It is bear strong and sharp as a scalpel.

Thanks for the input Doc. I really want to check one out, it is just hard for me because I have gotten spoiled with the smoothness of my Benchmades, and the ease of using the Axis lock.

The CS folders I have had in the past were reasonably easy to unlock. I know it can vary from knife to knife, and things loosen up with use, but in general are the current versions ?
It sticks in my head that I have read some complaining about the locks being really stiff.

AUS 8 is 12 mm and CTS XHP is 10mm...

Quite a bit thinner, but as has been said, it feels good on this model. Smoother scales too. I like it a lot. Works better on this than the Lawman, but I still like that too.

Thanks for the pictures. Much appreciated... They did really change the texture didn't they. I'm guessing the new version will slide into pocket easier than the more aggressive older version ?

Yes it does. I still had to bend up the tip of the clip to go over seams, though.
