I recently purchased a BT4 Recurve from Ban. Not only does Ban produce a great knife, but his customer service is exceptional. I recieved the knife two days after purchasing, that's fast shipping. The moment I unpacked the knife and held it in my hand, I was in awe. The fit and finish are perfect, the edge is crazy sharp, and the handle is very comfortable. Having already planned a camping trip with my son, it seemed like the perfect setting to try out Ban's knife. I know most of us dont think of a Recurve blade as your typical bushcraft knife, but Ban's knife was more than effective. The first test seems to be, how well a knife batons. The recurve turned a thick piece of cedar into kindling in no time at all.

I then beat Bans knife through some of that aged, petrified, hardwood crap that you find infront of your local grocery store.

Bans knife performed excellent and when i was done was still sharp enough to shave hair, and make this pathetic fuzz stick (the users fault, not the knife's)

After that I tried out Bans knife to make a quick dead fall trap. Every piece of the trap was built using Ban's knife. I found the extra belly to be quite useful in making push cuts while notching the trigger stick.

All in all I was more than happy with my new purchase, and will definitely look to do business with Ban in the future. Its clear that Ban puts alot of time, heart and soul into each of his knives, and you cant go wrong.

Nice review...what steel is that? That hardwood looks like some nice dry Oak.

Its nice to see Bans knives starting to get out there. I think this may be the first review.

after things get settled down a bit, i'll get a review of my (choiless) BT4 up.. we'll have lots of woods to exlpore at our new place..

Nice Mini-review, great pictures too. I think you nailed it on this comment:

I didn't know the results were out either for the W&SS challenge thread! Going to have to check it out.

I got the joke now. Thanks Ban. Im a little slower than i thought i guess.

Great review, thanks for posting! I need to get back outdoors and practice with my knives, it's been way too long..

Yep, I need to brush up on my outdoors survival skills as well. We should all go do a backpack camping trip one of these days.

This thread has been buried for a little while but if you're looking to get a Ban knife, at least take a look of some of the things they are capable of doing. I'd hardly call myself an experienced outdoorsman. Bans knife makes me look better than I am.

I definitely want a Ban Tang, just not sure which model (to start with) yet. That recurve definitely caught my eye though... A bigger version of that would be seriously bad ass!!
