Well I thought I would ask you guys a question. I recieven a nib mini rukus, and I noticed that the tip is kind of brown. I thought the person I got it from had sharpened it on a belt sander or something and got the tip too hot. I was wrong. I did a google image search and found that a lot of pictures of people who took them (not factory images) had this weird brown tip thing. What do you guys make of it? Did benchmade burn the tip from the factory? I only wonder because I worry about that temper.

I sharpened it on a diamond stone, and I got a lot of that metal particle sliver fuzz looking material sticking to the blade. Is that common of s30v or is the temper bad? Here is one image that clearly defines what im talking about I found on google image search.

well the pic you have is burnt,to hot of a grind????
The rukus is one of the sharpest knives i own,i have never had any chipping of the steel..............

Just another reason you should not use power tools to sharpen knives.

The burn does not look that bad and should not effect the HT, if it did effect it though and you see the blade chipping or not sharpening properly I would send it back. BM will swap the blade if you believe there is a problem, they did it with mine.

Well then i guess benchmade should have not used power tools. Its not blue colored, lol, so i guess it didnt get THAT hot.... Ill just use it till i find a problem.
