I have a small Sebbie and love it. I understand that Sebenza means work. Still, I think small knives do a lot of work as in scalpels. This must have been brought up before but I would like to see a smaller than the current small sebenza.

there's the mnandi, currently in production. out of production is the umfaan, a mini-sebenza. search for it on this forumand you'll be on the search for one like the rest of us!

They used to make one it was called the Umfaan. This was more or less replaced by the current Mnandi.

Good luck in your search.

Wow, I guess I feel just the opposite. I like the small Seb as far as the size of the overall length. In fact I shoot for that same size when I make one but this one due to the design actually ends up for me as a 'three finger' knife instead of one I can really get all four fingers wrapped up around the handle as I like. The large Sebbie is just too big. I like the handle but both the overall length and the blade length are just far larger than I ever really carry or find need for.

I took my small Sebenza and modified it to fit my hand. Otherwise I'd never use it much. For me this is perfect now. Its a 'four finger' handle as I like, and I don't miss the one less serration I have in the back of the edge now. In fact I feel if this were a plain edge I'd feel the same way. Plus I could then sharpen it on my Edge Pro without having to worry about flattening the thumb stud being out there above the primary grind and cutting edge as its sitting from Reeves where I tend to hit them if people send them to me to sharpen. Which is why I don't use the EP on Sebbies anymore unless I'm very careful about playing with the way I can sit the blade on the base. but I've found its easier to just avoid that sharpener and use something else.

Your sebbie looks really good. Love the choil, and the serrations look like they are gold plated in that pic. Very cool. Somehow has the profile of a Randall. Where is the lanyard?

That is it! Thats what im talkin 'bout.. What IS that?

I'd love to see the Umfaan come back, but what I'd like to have is a medium Sebenza. Something with about 3.125 - 3.25 inch blade. The large is just too big for me.

But I'm with you in that I love small folders too. I have a small collection of quality small folders (2" or less blade)...they are great and can do serious work.

:)

Thanks, I can see this will be hard to find. Will check out FleaBay.

When you do find one, be ready to pay a premium for it. Probably over $500. I keep hoping CR will start making them again so I can get a new one for around $300 instead $500+ for a used one.

I also keep praying for a reintroduction. (and emailing Chris Reeve Knives every couple months or so...) I've tried for a couple on ebay, but my cheap a$$ nature stops me from going higher than 400 or so... alas I just dream and hope. Seems like there was a rumor going round about CRK introducing a new folder sometime... some people want something larger than the large Sebenza, but I'm wantin' the reintroduction of the Umfaan. later GDWTVB

Hey Nukemb, where did you get your Umfaan ?

I was fortunate enough to hear about a small knife store in Virginia having a 'going out of business' sale. I called, they had two NIB, and I bought both. I did have 3 of this style, but got talked out of one and shipped it overseas. Wish I had it back!
