I don't have a problem with the clip. At least one has not presented itself yet.
The tip down is OK on this knife, since without the thumbstud there is nothing to hang up on when inserting it in you pocket using the clip, so it doesn't open slightly and poke a hole in your pants like some other knives I have.
But I would like a tip-up carry, I think because...
The only thing I find a little annoying so far is that it is a little too wide, so, with jeans, my hand scrapes the thumb ramp when I put my hand in my pocket. A little pointy.
The main thumb-hole is a little small if you compare it with most Spyderco thumb-holes, but it is more nicely contoured.
But fit and finish and lockup are great. Smooth opening. Very solid knife.
If it were up to me, I might reprofile the handle so it covered the pin stop part of the blade when closed, and round off the thumb ramp a little.
