Some of you will remember my recent thread on requesting opinions on these two knives. I couldn't decide, so bought them both (keeping only one).

The Skirmish arrived first. It exceeded my expectations. Regarding f&f, probably was one the best designed knives IMHO. Excellent blade to handle ratio. Solid lock up. Fantastic ergs. And the chamfered hole was not as bad as I had expected. This one opened with liquid ease. I was sold.

I was cursing myself for spending so much on the Seb. I had already decided to sell it before it ever arrived. I WANTED to be disappointed. It arrived, but I didn't even care. I almost sent it back wihout opening it. But curiosity got the better of me. So I opened the box. And almost instantaneously knew what all the hype was about. As SteelSnob mentioned in my previous thread, the Seb is on whole different level from the Skirmish and Sage. Once out, I couldn't put it down. In many ways, I felt I had found the perfect knife. I still do feel that way.

I won't go in details about the attributes of this knife, as it has been hashed and rehashed often on the forums. If you want to know more, check out Cutlery Lover's YouTube clip on his Seb. He was who convinced me to pull the trigger. And I agree with him 100%

In terms of blade and handle design, I think I prefer the Skirmish. But the blade, you have to admit, is one of the most intimidating for a knife of this size. If you pulled it out in public, the sheeple would think you are going to scalp somebody. Whereas the Seb is so understated, almost like it is not even there. And though it doesn't look very ergonomical, it fits like a glove. I was really surprised by this.

The Skirmish I got for $180.00 shipped. The Seb for $330 shipped. Is there that much of a difference to justify the difference? I must admit I was skeptical before I held one. But as Cutlery Lover mentions in his clip, you just have to try one to understand what you are missing. But the Skirmish is one fantastic knife. If I couldn't afford the Seb, I wouldn't be upset. But I can and I won't part with it. Mine is just he basic package...no inlays or unique graphics. Something very cool about the simplicity of it.

After I the Seb arrived, I immediately started looking around to see what I could sell to keep them both. Luckily my father, who also loves knives, bought it from me. I gave him a good deal, with the condition that I can have it from time to time:D

Congrats on your new addition, I love the Skirmish and Mini Skirmish models by benchmade they are my favorite benchmade, its a shame they retired both models, now try finding a 630 and you will think the 635 is little!!!
