Hello All,

I have a quick question regarding the mini-strider spear point. On this particular knife, what is the thickness of the blade?

Thanks,

Same as the large I believe, and if not it is close. Btw the large measures out at .177".

Thanks artsig1!

Does anyone have a pic of the two spearpoint models (large and small) side by side, I can't decide which I would rather have. I am concerned with the size of the Large version; I have an AFCK and I consider that to be the largest I would ever carry in my pocket. How does the 880SP compare in size to the AFCK?

Hi catmath, me again. I have just decided to add the "small" Buck/Strider spearpoint to my collection and will head out tomorrow morning to make it a reality. Sounds like a quest doesn't it, actually it is a 20 minute drive!:D Anyway the small is small only in the sense that it is not as long as the large, otherwise it is just as thick. The BM is slimmer and has a shorter overall length and weighs less. The BM is going to be easier to carry. The Buck/Strider on the other hand is brute strong and as thick as the blade is it still takes a razor edge. I don't carry the B/S as my primary edc, right now my large Mike Obenauf model 2 framelock has that position, rather I carry it in my left back pocket or in the jacket/vest pocket. It is a HEAVY DUTY folder. Even the the small model is heavy duty only shorter. Hope this helps you some.

I have the 880SP and an 806D2. The knives, when opened and placed side-by-side, look pretty much the same length overall. Even the blades are about the same length, though the AFCK has a longer usable edge. The 880SP has that semi-circular choil cutout and the stop-pin mating area that cause the blade to measure approximately 3.5" horizontally. I really think that the two knives measure up to be about the same and even feel about the same size in the pocket. I EDC the AFCK and occasionally throw the BS in a pack.

I took a look at the small version of the Buck-Strider recently, and found that it looks very small compared to the large. You might even say it looks hilarious, like a vicious little bulldog. I don't see the point of getting such a small hard-use knife.
