Hi gang,
I have a larger first aid kit in the car in the back as well as a snivel kit and small first aid kit with bandaids and such in the glove box.

But after rolling up on a accident where the driver was ok but was bleeding alot from the head I had to grab the large kit, dig through it for a dressing until ems got there. I thought back and realized that I have responded to alot of emergency situations while in my car. Including a lady who was driving on the express way and was shot in the chest. It was believed to have been a stray shot from the housing area that borders the highway, a freak shot.

That got me to thinking, I need a readily accessible kit for immediate usage for that situation and God forbid if I or any of my passangers are injured, accident, shooting, etc.

This is what I came up with....

So I put together these little kits. I made five of them. I keep them in the little map holder storage area in each of the car doors, and the last taped to the trunk lid. They fit the smallest area. I have the pull strap to assist in getting it out quickly.

Everyone that drives with me knows where they are and whats in them, I taught my immediate family and friends what to do so if Im the one injured Im not SOL

I also have the emergency glass breaker, seatbelt cutters with light next to each kit.

I recently did the old wrap it in duct tape to add to the durability of the ziplock bag as seen in the pics. Now the sharp edges of the storage area does not tear the bag, nor do the trauma shears stab through.

It contains the basics...

Trauma bandage, these things are great!!!!
Trauma scissors
space blanket
rubber gloves
sharpie

I have the pull strap to assist in getting it out quickly. I marked it with a red cross. When I get time I might make the next ones with orange duct tape and a red duct tape pull.

I will admit besides the training I have received I am no doctor or nurse so you all with more experience might have more ideas, I would love to hear them.

I know it is basic but maybe it will give some people ideas to build on or a starting point if new.

Thanks for looking. :)

I like the idea , a lot

multiple kits is a good idea also , you have put some serious thinking into it , gratz

Looks good. I have recently been trying to put together an emergency kit for my vehicle too. Right now it's just sunscreen/bugspray, bandaides, alcohol wipes, 25ft of cord, a firestick and some waxed jute twine for starting a fire if needed. I plan to add a large bandage ,a blanket and/or a small tarp and some antibiotic oitment and motrin

as a shooter I have a dedicated blow out kit...SF tourniquet...two Israeli bandages in case of a through and through...Quick Clot gauze....several rolls of Kerlix and Kerlix gauze... NPA tube....Burn Gel....several non adherent bandages... micropore tape....Betadine.... saline and syringe

i keep a couple in every veh. i used actual pouches i had laying around but yours looks good. i would also say add some celox and your could handle most major bleeding issues.

If you have any old sheets lying around you can cut them into 4'x4' squares and then cut them diagonally so that you two triangular bandages. These are awesome for arm slings and even just using as compresses for large wounds. Also for that "stray gunshot" wound to the chest, you can also use something as a simple plastic bag to treat it until ALS gets there. With a bandage over the open wound you can then tape the plastic bag over the wound leaving just one corner untaped. This allows air to move outo of the chest cavity when the patient breathes out,and prevents air from entering the chest cavity when the patient breathes in. This simple treatment can help prevent a tension pneumothorax until more advanced EMS can arrive.

The trauma here is more likely to be a terrorist's bomb
A torniquet, a breathing mouthpiece, two Field Dressing, and some bandanas, some latex gloves.

Start the heart with your hands, start the breathing with the breathing mouthpiece and stop the external bleeding with direct pressure and a tourniquet
And wait for the experts do their tirage

I keep a fully equiped level II first aid kit in my 4x4 always, everything a paramedic shows up with except the oxygen.
we are hours away from help more often than not when we are out camping or fishing.

I have stopped to help in accidents 4 times, I was a level II attendant for 8 yrs and a level III for 4 yrs, everyone should have first aid skills

I could tell you folks know more about this then me. I just figured even if I don't know how to use the stuff maybe someone else will and be able to use it to help in an emergency

Where would you recommend getting them? Red cross, or volunteering at a local hospital?

Really good little kit SAR. I commend you for the thought of it. How about some alcohol hand gel for cleanup of the forearms / arms later on ?

I talked to my brother today he is an ex paramedic and now an ERRN nurse and we have pretty much covered all the basic stuff + some
