Mini Tuff Lite: The Knife that Surprised Me

Hi folks,

I bought a Mini Tuff Lite because I could get it for $16 or $17 and then put it in my tool box and forgot it. I never really used it for anything but once or twice I cut some tape with it. The other day one of my wife's porcelain vases got broken so I took out a bottle of Gorilla Glue and fixed it. Of course, Gorilla Glue foams as it hardens (if you use water to dampen the pieces) and the foam hardens like a rock. So, I thought of the little MTL in my tool box. I thought I would just scrape the glue off. No way! That little knife shaved it off better than a razor blade. I could not believe how well it worked because I have scraped Gorilla Glue off of things before and it was always a chore. The MTL acted like it didn't care and just zipped that stuff right off. I was so impressed I dropped it in my pocket and started using it for all sorts of things. It cut the top off of my pretzel bag like a laser beam. I have been around looking for things to cut and it has done a remarkable job. I opened a box and took it down. I opened the mail. What a great little knife. I am so impressed I am going to buy the Tuff Lite. I wish the colors were as cheap as the black, but for this amount of money, this knife cannot be beat. This is the best $16 or $17 I have ever spent.

Awesome story. The MTL is one of the few knives in the world that I think is completely perfect as is. I hope Cold Steel never changes a single thing about it.

Is a wonderful design for an even better price. I would gladly pay $$ if they upgraded the steel to XHP or similar

My Tuff Lite is my most used folder. The ergos are absolutely perfect IMO. I hope they do an update with the CTS-XHP as stated above. I'd be happy to pay $40 for it.

As much as I love mine, it desperately needs tip-up ambidextrous carry. Otherwise, for such a small knife, the ergos are perfect for me.

I do not own one, but this thing screams utility cutter. Box cutter, carpet cutter, throa- *cough* any kind of material that can be cut for a job. Good lil scraper too.

The Mini is just a tiny bit too small for me. Luckily, the regular Tuff Lite does very nicely. Absolutely love that little thing, just a solid, practical knife with nothing that doesn't need to be there.

I have a few regular Tuff Lites and a Mini. It is such a great design. The one thing that is missing from the line up is an alternative steel upgraded version.
A properly heat treated CPM 10v Tuff Lite would be a WOW I MUST BUY NOW item for me. However, I am flexible. I can settle for a slightly lesser CPM s90v and if push comes to shove S30v or 154cm will do. Cold Steel please please please produce an upgraded steel version of this masterpiece. Maybe a limited edition to test market the upgrade.

I'd be down for an LE in S90, S110, or 20-CV.

Yeah I would be thrilled with CTS-XHP. I've been impressed with Cold Steel's job with it so far.
