Mini ULU stock removal knife

I salvaged a bunch of shims from a project I'm currently working on. Range in thickness from paper thin to 0.125". I plan on trying to use the ones that range between 0.50" to 0.125" and do some stock removal mini ULU's.

Here is what I'm starting with.

Do you have any idea what the steel is??Ferrous?

It was under motors outside, high carbon of some sort. Varying degrees of oxidation, only surface rust. Some say Aloma and some say M/S shim.
