Greetings everyone,
A hobby of mine since I was 14 is making miniature swords. I stopped for a while but got back into it 4 yrs ago. I make them out of stainless steel, brass, and a bakelite composite I make up and of course synthetic gemstones. On the tooling side I use a dremmel tool, all sorts of files, and many different grades of sandpaper
I just finished this one ,I call it the "Norse King's Sword". The writing on the blade is a language called "Eldar Futhark Runes" (ancient writing 200 A.D used by Vikings) . what it say's in the Eldar Futhark language is this
"HAGALAZ ,URUZ, WUNJO, RAIDO, SOWULO, MANNAZ "
Translated to english it say's this
" Hail Strength, Invite glory and wisdom,Journey to salvation manifest true self" .
Each character is also done in brass and mounted on geode slices on the stand base. The stand is made from plexiglass, its suppose to look like stalagmites or icicles in a cave (sword in the cave kinda thing ) Honestly i'm glad its done cause the plexi glass was a pain (litterally) to work with, but using it gave me the effect i was looking for.
Just click on the link, and you can click on the slidshow, or pic and look at them individually.
thanks for looking.

Very cool. It's obvious you put a lot of work into that. Nicely done.

Thanks, that one took about 4 months from the drawing to finishing the stand. 3 to 4 months is average though

That's really neat! It's pretty obvious that you've got some patience as well as skill. I'm always intrigued by miniature, some of the knife miniatures I've read about in Blade magazine lately were simply astounding. What is the smallest item you have ever made?

thanks for the kind words . Size wise the smallest were probably 3 to 5 inches, most of my recent work is no bigger than 7.5 to 8 inches though, I can do some good detail at that size. plus its small but not too small.Normally i do alot of eastern designs.. alot of Jians and doa's (16 yrs tradional kung fu) But I like doing other stuff too for a change of pace..

Below Is one i recently sold, a type of Samurai sword called a "tachi Koshirea", this one took almost half a year because of all the research involved, funny enough It was sold before it was finished.

Nice work. You did a really beautiful job on the stand. You could probably sell the runes as separate items, mounting them on stones like that.

Thank you, the stand came out exactly as i planned, and the rune thing is a good idea as i find working with brass pretty easy, and the turn around time would be much faster then the complete sword sets ive sold
