two easy questions that i should know the answer to:
1) when was the minibuck first made ? i have several dating back to 1990.

2) just ran across a 422,od green w a 112
blade w 2000 yr stamp. is this a special run
or a usefull use of old style handles? i liked the first one and ordered modles 2 &3
in orange & black.

thanks guy bcci #975

The first brochure I have in my briefcase with a 425 MiniBuck is dated 1987. The only colors offered in that brochure are black and red. I suppose some could have been turned out in 1986 but I have no evidence of this.

thank you on 1987,that means i've still got
a ways to go.found a 92 in red yesterday so there is still hope.

Hi Guy,

On your 422 with the 112 blade. Yes, I think you hit the mark when you suggested a use for the older style handles. The 422 does use the same blade as the 112 Ranger, so perhaps Buck had a surplus of handles and no more 422 blades. I recently found a Bucklite 424 with a 522 blade in it. The 522 having been recently discontinued and Buck holding a surplus of 522 marked blades installed them in the 501 and 424 handles. Problem for the consumer? Not at all...the blades are the same in steel and heat treating as well as edging. Just a little hint: Many collectors of Buck knives look out for these oddities.

as promised,more on the bucklites: 426 has a 110-2000 blade.the 424 orange has a 501-2000 blade.
also, kmart has a new stock of 110's for the new low price of 16.49 plus 15% off till tomorrow.i really hate to see that kind of deal go to waste, but i dont need another 110.

The 425's were first made in 1986 and was first cataloged in 1987. I have a couple of '86 marked blades but no complete knife. I do have '87, '88 and '89 knives if you can't find them elsewhere.
