Minigrip saved life

I was walking around a house of a customer today, when I heard a "Meow, meow, meow". I looked and a bright yellow kitten had wrapped his foot up into a soccer goal netting. It was wrapped many many times, and very tightly. It appeared to cut off circulation, and it was so tight, I thought I was going to cut the kittens leg while attempting to free it. I tried the knife first and it I was scared I would cut the kitten. So then the homeowenr got some scissors. They were dull. So back to the Black 556 model plain edged 154 CM minigrip. I took great care not to hurt the kitten, and even better care not to be bitten by the hissing kitten. After a few minutes, he was free, and ran off limping. First time I ever saved a life with a knife. LOL

Nice going. Saving animals is good. Once, I had a similar opportunity, when a robin became entangled in the netting over my parents' cherry tree.

Homeowner lady was real cool. She said she carried two knives herself, in her purse. I told her not many men carry knives anymore, and she said, "My daddy always carried one. I thought all men did". LOL

She is apparently scared of animals. She said the cat would have stayed engtangled until her husband came home. It was so bad it would have either lost circulation or just bit his foot off to try to get away. It was like a trap.


One thing is for sure. I'm glad I got the drop point with it's needly like point over the 555 which has a modified sheepsfoot that doesn't appear as pointy.

I hope some knife-fobic peoples would also hear these things. They would understand knives are mere tools. Knives are not bad and kill by themselves. What knife does depends purely on person who holds.
