THis might have been discussed before, But I was wondering if anyone knows the legality of carrying large fixed blade knives concealed in MN. I plan on carrying a Battle Rat in a "Dundee" style arrangement. I remember something about there being no blade length limit, but does that apply to concealed knives or just folders? also, Can I carry it openly on my belt/hip?

I'm not familiar with Minnesota legal intracacies, but there doesn't appear to be a restriction...except where you physically have a knife (i.e., not on school property, etc.).

I'd definitely consider any municipal restrictions wherever you may be going with that, though.

well, I asked a cop down at the copshop and he didnt know of any restrictions, so I figure im safe enough.

Also look into the laws in whatever cities you will be carrying in. In Minneapolis, the law limits you to folders with blade length <4". Some of the Twin Cities suburbs and St. Paul probably have similar restrictions(and maybe St. Cloud, Rochester, and/or Duluth) , but other than that, blade-wise you can carry whatever you want(except switchblades).
