Ok so I got a bit of info from helpful blade forum Busse fans, but as I will be receiving my mint SFNOLE soon I want to ask a couple of question about storing it.

So I am planning on storing the knife in a Pelican case, sitting in/on the foam (cut to shape of knife) that comes in those cases. My question is:

1. Is this foam ok to be on permanent contact with the satin blade? Or does it need to wrapped in silk/flannel?

2. If the knife is not used at all does the satin blade still need to be oiled? If it does need oiling is mineral oil the correct choice?

3. Is there anything that needs to be done to the tigerhide micarta handles to keep them looking good? Is there anything that can be rubbed on them to bring out the colours of the micarta more?

Thanks guys!

1-I would use the flannel. I to have stored knives and guns for a period of time in an oil rage and T-shirt with absolutely no ill effects.
2-Most definitely oil, a good light grade will do, or mineral oil (food grade)
3-Micarta want need any thing for it will remain looking good.
***I would suggest pulling out and wiping down once in a while with fresh oil and just a general look see***

If you live around the coast of Australia you might want to through in a desicant bag, several.
Hope this helps, or maybe someone will disagree with me, but what ever you do good luck and keep the sharp edge out.

Just a light coat of oil and wrap them in old t-shirts will work fine.

wrap them in raw bacon, then cling wrap, then put them in the bottom of a chest freezer.

As usual one serious answer followed by all the jokers who just cannot help them selves :D

I live in Sydney and have all my Busse knives stored in leather sheathes in a dry spot some where inside the house.

I pull them out once in a while to play :D:D and just generally look them over and so far no problems.

Oil sounds like a good idea but I have not found the need for it so far. Even my users have been fine after a quick clean up.
