Mirror finish blades

Can anyone point me in the right direction or explain to me a beginners guide to mirror polishing an a1 with a convex edge without ruining the geometry. I've read using sandpaper and your hands is one of the easiest ways? Is there anyway that could thing the convex of the blade? Any other methods or advice?
 
Btw I guess I should say I don't have waterstones and don't intend on spending the money to get them. Atleast not right now so it needs to be a cheap but effective route...don't want to do something and it be half ass
 
I've never mirror polished a blade with sandpaper, but I know it is possible. Go up gradual progression and make sure to remove all scratches from previous grit. Be prepared to invest some hours brah.
 
Don't mind spending some time on it.. anyway I could ruin it with sandpaper? And how do u do it
