Mirror INFI?

I've never seen a mirror-finished INFI blade, but I notice the edges of my Busse's seem to take a nice high polish with fine-grit abrasives. Has Busse ever produced a mirror-finished blade, and is that an option from the custom shop? Seems that would enhance INFI's rust resistance even more.

Thanks,
Will

Hey, U.S. --

I'm honored that you spent your 100th post replying to this thread, but you can't just make a statement like that and then leave me hanging. Come on -- give it up!

Will,

You might try emailing Reese Weiland as I know that he's refinished a few Busse blades in the past. He would probably be able to give you a difinitive answer. Neil Blackwood also told me that he has done a few customizations as well so you might ask him as well. hope this helps.

Thanks, Jeff.

Yeah, I know some aftermarket sources who would mirror polish a blade as well, but I just hate to put a Busse in someone else's hands for blade finish work. That kind of thing would tend to leave a little cloud lurking in my brain about whether the heat treat might have been compromised. Also, I hate the thought of anyone coming between me and Jerry's warranty, and I couldn't expect Busse to stand behind a blade that had been altered in any way.

Appreciate the leads, though.

Will,
Good question, I've also wondered about this.

I think it could be done, but don't know if it has been. :D:D

A lot of help I was ;)

Eric--

That's okay. The more heads we get cogitating on this, the closer we should be getting to a definitive answer.

Soooooo...Jerry? :D

Thanks,
Will

I found one! It's the Busse bird and trout knife. I think it's mirror polished. I think it's INFI, but I'm not sure. Here's a pic:

Here's a mirror-polished SH1. However, it's A2. I think it's a great pic, so I included it:

Okay, so it looks like it can be done. Next question:

Is it a special order option, and if so, what's the cost?

and the corollary...

Is it possible to have a blade re-finished to mirror, and if so, what's the cost?

Jerry? Marc?

Thanks, guys.
