I know some folks don't like/approve of stripping and polishing.
But for those who might like to -and enjoy doing things by hand- here goes:
1. Why I decided to strip it:
2. Why I then decided to polish it:
3. How I polished it (Velcro hook epoxied on end of square dowel, loop-backed abrasive discs, water lubed):
4. Photos at the P3000 grit stage:
5. After using P400, P800, P1200, P1500, P2000, P3000, P5000 and P7000 grits, then Autosol metal polish:
6. Before and after, with stainless fixings and a simple kydex spring-off pack sheath:
If anyone wants more details on materials/technique just ask.
Unforseen problem: I don't want to use it in case I ruin the polish. Easy solution...I'll buy another BK7 for a beater!
