So,
Do I need a different buffing wheel that goes on my 90 angle grinder for each type of buffing compound?

What is the order?

White, then green, then red?

thanks

Danny, where did you find the buffing wheels for the 90 degree angle grinder? I have a 9" angle grinder that runs at 6600 RPM, with a 5/8-11 shaft, and so far all the buffing wheels I have seen are not rated for that speed. I assume they would just fly apart, creating a dangerous situation.

I have done buffing with just white compound on a 2x72 felt belt and it has left a flawless mirror finish, which was not improved by buffing with green compound. I think every compound is a little different depending on who makes it, so you have to experiment with what you have.

And, yes, you do need a seperate buffing wheel for each compound.

Does anyone know how to clean a buffing wheel so that you can put a different type of compound on it? I tried using a wire brush but it wasn't very effective.

Green, then White

Red is for adding color/luster to non-ferrous metals.

you can run your wheels at whatever speed you want....just be ready in case it grabs. FWIW, I run mine somewhere around 2500-3000 rpm.

You need a wheel rake. I saw them on the thread about the leather belts a while ago. Look in the buffing wheels section.
Be sure and wear a long sleeve shirt, buttoned, a cap, face shiels, apron and the works.
You're gonna have a royal mess all over Everything when you get through dressing your wheel!!!!
