Mirror polish sharpening is seen in lots of photos of Busse and Busse kin knives.
I would like to do this to my Busse knives and was wondering if someone could tell me how to do it.

Generally speaking, I usually start by convexing the edge if its not from the factory. Using wet/dry sandpaper starting at 220grit and working up to 400 grit, then some light strokes on a ceramic stick, and then stropping on leather with some mothers mag polish. Finally a dry strop on the smooth side of a piece of leather. At that time you better watch your fingers because its going to be very sharp.

I have done it with the polishing tapes that came with my edgepro. Paper wheels do the same thing but faster. :)

Convex edge, stropping on sand paper. Starting at 600, maybe lower depending on how much metal I need to remove or how ugly the edge is, then I work up to 2000 grit. Then, strop on green or black buffing compound, then finish with a newspaper stropping. It get's it all nice and shiney like

i actually just got done doing mine.. literally. Depending on how bad of shape the edge is in depends on what grit sandpaper i start with. Normally a 320 wet/dry. I use a piece of balsa wood sanded on one side and on the other side I adhere a piece of linoleum. (found at art stores and used for carving out the negative part of a stamp) I use the linoleum side for the convexed side of the knife and the sanded side for the flat. I then go from 320 to 400 - 600 - 800 - 1000 - 1500 - 2000. I then use honing pastes that are 6 microns in size then one thats 3 microns in size. After those I use diamond sprays in 1 micron, .5 micron, and .25 micron sizes. For the pastes and diamond sprays I have cowhide glued to a piece of wood for the flat side of the knife and use a strop for the convexed side. You can easily stop at 1 micron diamond for a mirror edge, but I'm a little anal about sharpening. Hope that helps!

My first thought when I read the OP was  "Man, it's sure gonna take a long time to sharpen a Busse with mirror polish." 3136avxVUiL._SS500_.jpg but then I just felt silly. :o
Just kiddin.
Can't go wrong with the advice given already. ;)

I use an Edge Pro, which turned me from zero to hero, but one of these days I need to try the paper wheel.

Powernoodle.. How is the edge pro?? I've gotten very good at hand sharpening but know im not hitting the correct angle consistently. How do you do your convexed edge? Is it worth the cost? I figure once you have it you can probably make your own sharpening attachments.
