Hi all.im new to the knife making business.im currently on my second knife.i bought a blank fixed blade hunter in 12c27 steel.currently on 120grit sanding paper so ive got a ways to go.im also using only my hands- no machines.what i need some advice on getting a mirror finish on the blade.what i do know is that you go from 120 to 220 ext and everytime sanding in the opposite direction than previously and not before al the old scratches are gone.im planning on going to 2000grit sandpaper.ive also bought something called dialux buff soap that you use after the sandpaper.as ive never done this could anyone give some pointers?

Flat metal bar, with a rounded corner to facilitate wrapping sandpaper, sturdy vice and support for the blade so there's no wobble when you're sanding the blade, use water/windex, keep particle contaminants away from the blade... Working clean saves serious time... I think Nick Wheeler has a YouTube video on this.

I'd want to go to a higher grit sandpaper, maybe 3000-4000 before using the buffing compound, especially if you're buffing it by hand.
