Mirror Polished Ti Frag Scale

If you have every handled a stonewashed Ti Frag scale it is kind of slippery like the stonewashed lock side whereas a textured Ti scale is very grippy. The other thing I noticed is that a stonewashed textured Ti scale reflects more light which makes a stonewashed Ti Frag scale looks very dull in comparison. I didn't like the dull look and considering that there was no traction to be lost I decided to mirror polish my Ti Frag scale. Using a mirror base I polished the scale in increments up to 2500 grit and the result is quite beautiful! It doesn't appear to have any less grip than before but I do not have another Ti Frag scale to compare it too. BTW the pics don't do it justice...hard to capture the true effect.

Wait. So is it possible to polish any Ti handle to a mirror finish?

Yes, polished Ti is always possible. Litespeed bicycles used to do a whole bike frame but they cost a LOT more than the brushed and satin ones. The finish holds up great.

I'd also like to know how long this took!

And curses, now I really want a ti-frag scale so I can do this. I was so happy with blue/black. *sniff*

Only took me about an hour...I've polished a ton of CPU heatsinks in my day so it's pretty much the same process.
