Mis-stamped Tang

 Hi all,

I just received a VERY mint (box is flawless, even) 194OT. In the course of examining it, I noticed that the tang had been incorrectly stamped with the 94OT stamp  . I have a mint 194 which I used to verify that the knife is, indeed, a 194OT. The two knives are identical except for the tang stamp.

My question is simply this: is this error inherently valuable in the world of collectible knives? In other collectibles such as stamps and coins, manufacturing errors usually add something to the value of the item; sometimes quite a bit.

Does anyone have an idea about the significance of this particular error? I had originally intended to offer this knife for sale at an upcoming show, but now don't know what I should do. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kent

That does sound like an interesting find Kent, if you get a chance put up a picture of the two side by side.
I've been on the look-out for a 194OT for an EDC, but the ones in good shape have been bringing some big bucks lately.

Hi,

Such as they are, here are pics. It is hard to get very precise comparisons due to needing to avoid flash glare. I can assure you thet are every bit identical.

This last one I bought last week and it cost me $31.55 including shipping on eBay, not too excessive in my opinion.

Here are the best I could do - too big for more than one.

Email me direct and I'll attach the others to the reply: gkentsmith@sbcglobal.net
