Misreading Acronyms

I've been noticing that I'm reading acronyms differently, if there're two ways of reading it, I lean towards the knife related version. E.g.:

If I see 6K, I don't think 6,000, I think of Stellite 6K.

In engineering maths, we have these things called Laplace Transforms. Instead, every time I see LT, I think of Lynn Thompson. And I don't even own a single CS knife.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

That's it. Send all your knives away for safekeeping, you can't be trusted with them anymore.
Definitely a candidate for psychological observation ... nurse, nurse, call security !!! :D

Weird, I did the same thing with airsoft. Everytime I see CA I think of Classic Army instead of California, even though I live there.:rolleyes: You're definitely normal (this makes 2 of us!:D).

Yah, I remember when I used to be into airsoft back in the day. (Before most people even knew what airsoft was.)

TM= Tokyo Mauri

KWC= Uhh, I forgot, its been a while.:D

UHC=Also forgot. Been a while.:D

UTG= Crap, I forgot this one too.:(

Well, you get the point, at any rate. The acronyms make for some handy mnumonic devices.

I do that also. When I saw MS, I used to think Morphine Sulfate, now it's Microsoft. When I saw Model 19, I thought S&W, now Glock. But FTL still means Faster Than Light, not Fruit of the Loom.

Acronym is in Ohio , just south of Cleveland !...I have an old ice pick stamped 'NRA'. Some one saw it and asked what does the National Rifle Assoc have to do with ice picks ? Would you believe 'National Recovery Act ' ??

FG. I have to always look at the context to see if they're talking about Foliage Green or Flat-Ground.

Years ago there was a poster with some strange threads IIRC, by the handle "420." Some people said that this signified drug use, but before people posted that info I assumed that this poster for some reason was a fan of 420J2. :D

At my old job, we made a game of "redefining" acronyms. Turns out many of us, if we didn't know what an acronym meant, we'd try to figure it out and move on. Made for some hilarious emails.

Every time I see O.D. I think Outside Diameter. My friends all think OverDose.

CA: California or Culinary Academy?
PMS: Preventive Maintenance System (Navy) or ?
ID: Interior Diameter (what I see) or Interior Design (what my wife does).

thx - cpr

Nothing to do with acronyms, but today I noticed that every time I saw a tree with deeply furrowed bark, I'd think "jigged bone". Too much Knife porn I guess. :D
