missing a piece of KME that I just bought

I ordered a KME sharpener from the best sharpening stones website and received it just a moment ago. Excited to try it out, I only found out that I had difficulties to tighten the angle adjustment piece. After watching some videos and pictures online, I think a metal plate is missing between the black plastic nub and the sliding adjuster (see the picture, which is how exactly it is when I opened the package). Am I right? If so, how could some thing like this happen at the factory? Or maybe this could be a knockoff? Is this seller reputable? Advice please.

Anyone use a KME sharpener please? Could you show a picture of the back of the angle marker plate?
