For the last couple of weeks, I've noticed that some members' avatars do not show up on my home computer, but display properly on a PDA phone... I've gone through the usual steps, i.e. emptying internet temp folder(s), logging in & out... and back in, and dumping cookies, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions??? This has never happened before and seems unusual. There is not a little white box with a red "X" in it, just no avatar, and a thinner blue bar up where the name/ avatar should be, like with registered members who don't have this option. My CP options for these are on.

Please let me know if there's anything else I should try. Thanxx in advance!

It'd help if we could know who those members are?

I bet you're using Firefox, right? Emptying your cache should have fixed it; I don't know why it didn't. You might try emptying your cache and then rebooting.

Just a few that I can think of...

Ban
Amy-0
Tarkon Lawson
until he changed his back to an earlier one, and it showed up as soon as he switched.
Barrabas74 if he still flies one...

there are a few others whose names escape me for now.

I noticed originally when Amy-0 changed her avatar to a pink handled knife, and asked us if we liked it... For me, it was as if she chose to fly none; others can see it, and I can on the phone, but I cannot get these 'missing' avatars to show on this computer now.

Cougar Allen, I'm using the latest version of IE, which is set up to dump temp files & internet history each time I close it. It's been re-booted several times since noticing this.

Sounds like your ISP is caching files to save bandwidth. Your options are to yell at them until they change their settings or just wait for their other customers to yell at them until they fix it -- that usually doesn't take long.

A hard refresh (control-F5) is supposed to get the latest version regardless of caching, but that doesn't always work; it depends on exactly how they've screwed up their system.
