Missing clips

There seems to be a slew of older Spydercos on the bay missing the clips.
So there is what looks like a large lanyard hole? Was that a design before the all in one plastic clip or after. And can the parts be found or is that a lost cause?

Those holes are where the barrel/nut goes, that holds the old school clips in place. It's a criss cross nut, that you can unscrew with a nickel.

Yep. The older salt series folders used the same system, although I understand the clips were changed from steel to titanium early on.

That makes sense. Was this the early system that was replaced by the all in one molded clip? Or is it the other way around?
And are these parts available some where as i see a lot of these knives missing the clips on the bay? All seem to also have damaged tips for some reason
Maybe the clip came apart and knife fell and broke the tip? Lol

These replaced the old style with the molded clip. Don't know why they'd be missing or sold without the clips. Maybe the seller selling them for cheap, then also selling the clips separately to squeeze a few more bucks out of people. This generation of Delica/Endura is well known for having a rather fragile tip, especially in the hands of people who think a knife is meant to pry or be used as a screwdriver. And given that the Delica is one of the most popular knives, it's no surprise that there's a lot of them out there with varying degrees of tip missing. I've resharpened at least 2 or 3 for people. No doubt there's many more in junk drawers, tool boxes, and glove compartments.

I've got a few in my toolboxes, junk drawers and glove compartments as well!

Thank you all for the info. I suppose the Delica minus the clip is small enough to drop into your pocket. For $30 it might be worth it even with the tip issue.
Funny how knives are used as screwdrivers and pry bars. Life or death absolutely but if i’m just saving the time it takes to go too my tool box shame on me
