Howdy Gentlmen,

About two and a half months ago I sent a 9" damascus fighter blade with damascus guard fitted, no handle, to Maryland from Alberta. It still has not arrived at it's destination.

Because of my own stupidity, I did not send it Priority Post, and therefor can not trace it. Canada Post and U.S. Customs don't seem to be able to help. The only thing I can think of is that someone within these two agencies took it along its way.

My last resort is to post a pic of this knife, and hope someone comes across it and contacts me. As there is no handle on it, someone out there will most likely put one on, or have another knifemaker do it for them.

The blade is 9" long, about 380 layers of lazy twist pattern, 1084 adn L-6, differentally heat treated, and has my mark (CHISAN within a bowie blade, and Stathmore, Alberta Canada underneath). The S guard is low layer twist damascus.

Desperate, but what the heck.

Thanks,

Clint Chisan chisanknives@shaw.ca

Don't give up hope yet. i have seen a lot of threads lately about slow mail between the US Canada. I sent a Surefire to BC a few months back that took two months to get to the buyer.

That's a downright shame Clint. Of course I will keep an eye out for it. Did you have it insured?

You can also track an Express Post package and it is a lot less expensive in Canada than sending Priority.

Wow :(...and I do feel your pain. I sent a couple of knives to DDR in February.., Priority, Insured, Delivery Confirmation...the whole 9 proverbial yards.., and they are gone..

I now find out that USPS rarely (if ever) pays the face amount of the insurance on anything that is lost. It is "Arbitrated"??? As if..., we get to arbitrate the cost of the insurance.....disgusting!

Thanks for your moral support. I see I'm not the only one to have a problem or two with shipping things. This is my first bad experience, and has taught me the hard way not to skimp on couriers! Even if it costs an extra $20, that a far cry from loosing a $400-$500 blade. I wonder if Examonlyf's knives and this blade are in the same "Black Hole?"

This is the stuff of nightmares for me. I still wouldn't discount slow mail. I'm not sure how much insured mail (full value) and confirmation of delivery etc. costs where you live, but in Australia, it doesn't cost too much at all - adds up to $30-$40 on average but you said it... on a $500 knife / blade it pales in comparison. At the moment, I'm doing the $40 delivery stuff even on $160 knives. It still stings, though. Looked an awesome blade too. Jason.
