Missing out on an Umnumzaan?

Hey guys, just wondering if I am missing out by not having an Umnumzaan in my collection, and why. The Large Sebenza is my favorite folding knife of all time. It's damn near perfect. I have a Large Regular, Large 21, Small Micarta Insingo, and Small Ebony 21, and will probably pick up a 25. Every time I consider adding an Umnumzaan, I figure that I'll just end up liking my Sebenzas better. Is there any "it" factor that the zaan has over the Sebenza? Also, the 25 will be adding most of the features that the Umnumzaan has currently (ceramic ball lock face, thicker blade stock, larger pivot, more aggressive serrations on the thumb ramp), so I'm just wondering where the Umnumzaan fits in. Thanks for your input.

I honestly think the blade and the scales are what make it more awesome than a sabenza. The other stuff is cool but like you said, it'll be on the 25.

I felt the same way and several Sebenzas later finally got an Umnumzaan.

It's a framelock, it's titanium, it's a CRK, but it's not a Sebenza. It's something rather different, but equally wonderful.

Get one, honestly. There's no way you'll be disappointed:thumbup:

I only have a Small 21 (Large on order) in addition to my Zaan. Even though for my light-duty purposes, either one is overkill, I just love the size of the Zaan, it's perfect. Although I've handled a Large 21 and it too fits me perfectly; I think what really sealed the deal for me with the Zaan, aside from the distinguishing attributes you've already mentioned, is that I believe it represents CRK's evolution into yet another flagship design.

Smooth + Silent = Awesome

In the Blade Show thread, someone mentioned the 25 still has the loud click of a 21 Seb, so even with the ceramic ball, you're missing out!

True. I personally love the sound the Sebenza makes, but I suppose the Umnumzaan would give you a quieter option. Thanks!

Yeah, that's the same logic that persuaded me to add a Regular to my 21, and I'm glad I did. This will probably be why I add a zaan.

There it's only one way you will know if you love it our not. Try it and see. Even if you don't like it you can sell it for nearly what you payed. Of course since you collect CRK it would be a great addition to your outstanding group. I hear all the time how the Umnumzaan is just a tactical Sebe. It is a different animal all together. You either love it or you don't. I like the Sebe but I always found it to plain and wanting. The Umnumzaan was my grail and I can't be happier.

Dude, can we say your missing out on a Zaan Dude? Yes. Totally. Can we call a zaan a tactical knife? Yes dude. Totally dude. I mean come on totally dude, it's like a tactical Sebenza dude which is a tactical folder already dude. It's a tactical tactical folder dude. Can we call it a tactical tactical knife dude? Tiiootally. And dude, tactical is the goods.

Oh dude ....my head...dude my head...:hopelessness:

I have an Umnumzaan and two large Sebbies (three by Wednesday). All of these CRK's are smooth and great. The Umnum was my first knife and is my favorite. The blade shape and swedge makes it so unique...and it is the "Boss."

Dude, I saw my Zaan today and I was like, Dude, you are THE Boss like totally dude. Then I saw my tactical Sebenza and I was like, dude you are not the boss, at all dude. No.

Dude, you have to get the Boss, it's totally the good value because it's tactical, tactical, and the sebenza is tactical dude, but like $150 max tactical. The Boss is tactical tactical, so that's at least $300. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a tactical tactical knife.

Dude it opens really fast. Totally dude, yes.

And wait, I know dude let me tell you, we're gonna talk about that later.

The Sebenza small is tactical, and that's no way dude worth more than $150. Totally. The large is more tactical than a small. Totally right dude, totally, so it's like tactical tactical dude. Totally. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a tactical tactical knife. So it's not good dude. No.

But the Zaan is more tactical than a large dude, totally. Yes. So it's tactical tactical tactical, and I wouldn't pay more than $150 for a tactical knife, so I won't pay more than $450 for a tactical tactical tactical knife.

Dude, you're missing out. Totally. Yes.

Well said!

I have both a large Sebbie and a Wilson Combat 'Zaan.

I prefer the Sebbie for it's simplicity and elegance. The Sebbie is as close to perfect as I've seen in a folding knife. However, I took the 'Zaan to Afghanistan because...well, it's like holding a small warthog in your hand: the feel is powerful, energetic, and capable...and ruthless. Maybe it's not elegant like a Sebbie, but it has a "get the job done" feel like few other folders (I've had my share). A bank solid lockup like the Sebbie, but it's quiet when you open it. Quiet in a calculating, menacing kinda way, like it's just waiting to cut or stab something...anything.

I prefer the Sebbie because I'm a quiet and civilized kinda guy...most days.
