In my quest for my next folder, I've come across the Mission MPF. Does anyone know anything about this knife?

Greetings!

I've had a Mission MPF for quite some time. It is my prefered left hand blade. Notice I say left hand. That's because in a hard thrust and extraction from a target, the integral lock has a tendancy to disengage if I using the MPF in my R hand. This never happens when I use the blade in my L hand. Others have noticed this problem as well.

Now, obviously, this is only an issue if you intend to use the MPF as a fighter. Which, BTW, it is terrific as a L hand fighter- very fast in the hand; spins and reversals are a cinch; with a very ergonomic handle that is equally good in forward or reverse grip; it thrusts and slashes extremely well.

As an utility knife, the serrations work great at cutting rope, etc.. It holds an edge as well as my A-2 blades.

Overall, I love this knife. It was well worth the money I spent for it.

BTW if you polish all the points of contact between the blade and the inside of the scales and apply some good white grease, it opens very nicely with just a flick of the wrist.

I hope that this is helpful.

Tuvo muy mala suerte...se callo en mi cuchillo.

Thanks, Mario! However, since I'm looking for a right hand user, I'm back to the Synergy/Sebenza/Commander choice. I appreciate the help.

Paul,

I have been working with John at Mission to take some of the arch out of the pocket clip. This would eliminate the problem ocassionally noted above because the hand would not arch over so much would apply pressure to the scale to lock it in. Even without this modification, the knife has not unlocked on me unless I applied pressure to release the scale from the blade.

Stay Sharp,
Sid

Mario :

It holds an edge as well as my A-2 blades.

Are you referring to the Ti-MPF? If so what kinds of materials are you cutting and what is the enviroment like?
