Got one from TAD Gear - pretty good deal. A2 TiAlNi coating flat full width grind, very comfortable and secure handle. I am very impressed. I should sharpen it properly and it will be perfect (factory edge does not suite that beauty)!

Look how cool it is:

Trully amazing knife, and I found that it is 15 years in Navy Seal service! Designed 15 years ago by US Navy SEALs with Rick Shultz help.

It is old knife, but I found it very attractive I resharpen it and it take excellent sharpness - I consider it in same league as Currahee, Busse, Fehrman, SwampRat, but noticable cheaper.

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili, what do you currently use to sharpen this? Looks like you had quite some work to do?

Near the handle edge was like 90 degree angle and even with 400 Diamond Product it may take few days to do to make it right - just too many steel to take off (I had this experience with Ranger RD6 and RD7). Not so far ago I regrind ZDP Delica and Decide that I am skilled enough to use belt grinder to fix edge. It was really scary, but doing that with extreme caution very lightly and accurate I manage to make it without damage to knife, only messed up tip just a little bit. After this I use my usual sharpening diamond bench stone 400 grit then 1200 grit then 6micron powder on leather, then 1 micron, then 0.3 micron.

So with grinder it take me yestarday evening and today morning to make it properly sharp.

Great pics, but I've heard they had a recent price hike of something like 40%! I guess titanium is getting to be like platinum.

Any interested parties should buy one NOW, if they can find it for a reasonable price.

This is not Titanium, this is well known carbon tool steel A2, well proven to be quite good for big knives because of good combination of wear resistant and toughness, bit less wear resistant then D2 but twice tougher or something. And price at TAD Gear is $169.

It is only Bark River making knives from this steel, but MPK-S has TiAlN coating, flat grind etc... It is very good steel knife it is same as ATAK, like next generation with similar steel.

Thanks, Vassili.

I thought the price would be more myself. Seems like a fair price and a good looking knife. Also an interesting article about the design. How does the knife feel in the hand? -Seems like alot of thought went into it.

Everyone forgets about the A2 Missions (I know I did) but they look like a great knife. Chris Reeve one piece knives and the Besh dagger both are A2.
Interestingly the Besh Dagger is available in either A2 and Titanium just like the Mission.

I was reprofiling my friends really dull and hard kitchen knife and used the belt grinder for the first time because it was taking forever. It was very intimidating but was actually very easy. It also did in seconds what had been taking days.

It feel in the hand very comfortable. I do not know any other knives which hooked to palm for chopping so nicely with pommel (or whatever it is) - may be that small run on BarkRiver Eks (NightFighter), you can hold it with last finger keeping others relaxed abd this gives more momentum for chopping. But MPK with this has pretty thick handle comfortable for applaying a lot of power and good for impacts also. Guard is very secure and again comfortable - same thick as a handle does not hirt index finger even with hard hits. Handle I think perfect as well as balance. It is trully practical utility-fighter.

Probably because of this factory sharpnes was not very good. Clearly they mess up 25% of the edge near handle in my case. But with this fixed - this is great knife!

Thanks, Vassili.
