Has there been a test and review on the Mission MPK knife? If so, sorry. If not, there should be one. Thanks.

I have Mission MPK-S 10 which has A2 steel blade. I am very happy with this knife - it has very good ergonomic, I guess it is only Currahee and M.D.Caldwell can compete with comfort of MPK. I have pretty good collection so it has really one of the best ergo if not the best.

And it is "on Duty" for more then 10 years!

Blede is flat grind from the spine, pretty wide - it is good cutter-slicer even it has thick strong blade (15/64" on the spine).

A2 steel is well known and has reputation of excellent steel for this kind of knives. This one also has TiN coating which is rare in this class - this is starnge because all other coating wear out right after first chopping, but not TiN. I think is it ZT100 only has TiN on the blade.

Only problem - poor sharpness out of the box, but after I recreate edge - it is excellent knife. It slices fresh salmon sushimi as good as Yanagiba.

I do not know about Titanium version, but A2 MPK-S I may recommend.

Initially it was designed in cooperation with Navy Seals - they were looking for corrosion resistanse, so first it was made from titanium and later they start making A2 steel variant.

Thanks, Vassili.

NOZH,
Thanks for the review on the Mission MPK A-2. I had the A-2 but traded it for an MPT- Titanium. I really like the benefits of Titanium. More folks should check out this Company. Happy Holidays!

Cool blade! Always loved the design of this knife but didn't realise it was available in A2. Would prefer that over ti myself. Don't really have a need for a ti blade, but still think this is a fantastic design, especially with that rubber handle.

Thanks for the pics

I have this, and the folder in Ti. I'm the opposite in that I've wished for years I had the A2 folder and FB. What do I need an all Ti knife for, that doesn't perform what I need as well as the A2 version. Joe

Thanks Joe. The Titanium appealed to me in this respect: I wanted an FB and a folder that I did not have to worry about rusting and getting some character on the blades by using them. That's not to say I neglect them. I knew that Ti can't do what good SS or CPM's or tool steels can do but boy, those Missions never let me down. Out of the box, they'll shave hair! Happy Holidays!

Vasilli that is my dream fixed blade you have there. I shall own one next year for sure. keepem sharp

I had several of the early MPK Ti's and one of the first MPF's. I liked them all. They were tough and even though they did not hold an edge as well as most of the better steels, the Ti held an edge as good as 440A, which was good enough. Toughness was extreme. My only issue was lack of heft for chopping, but great cutting and slicing and prying knife

COBALT,
Ya know, I try to avoid the Busse Page cause I'll be temped but I got a feel'n that we just might have to get one of them-there Busse's! Like Mission's Titanium, it's the Busse's INFI that draws me near. Happy holidays!

Busse (and many similar models) problem is uncomfortable guard - it is just part of steel blanc not covered by scales, so it is too thin and cause pain when you stab hard like wood or something. So I limit myself to apply full power to hit, while I am pretty comfortable with MPK and Currahee and M.D.Caldwell.

But Busses look prettier.

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili,
I thought I'd go with a rounded pommel. This way, I could palm-grip that baby and ram er home. I'm talk'n NEXT Christmas!!! Thanks.

one of the reasons I got INFI was because the MPK was to light and I needed something with more heft and the same toughness.

than your talking straight handle knife. The way you mention is the right way to stab full power.

Yes, MPK also much suitable for "Finnish grip" - you know pukkos does not have guard so it is only way to do stabbing - at least it alled this way in Russia. In Busse world it is only Game Warden has good butt, but all other model are unfriendly for this grip.

I should not that round end of the handle does not mean that you can not use it for hummefing, also I used my Game Warden as a chisel - it has enough of the tang there to hit it with piece of wood and do not crack the scales. But for some reason all other Busses have unusable butt - at least I have no idea what to do with this tang leftovers.

Thanks, Vassili.
