MISSION KNIVES can be had in either titanium or steel.
I have three titanium MISSION knives and used them for a wide variety of tasks for which they work admirably.
One knife is a used as a camp knife and general utility knife.
Another as a kayaking knife, for which the ti knife does stellar duty, as it doesnt get corroded by salt water.
My titanium knives take a fine edge and holds it well even when used hard.
Ive skinned several deer in one outing with one of my MISSION knives. It works fine.
Though a ti knife wont get as sharp as the keenest of steel knives, I find my ti knives to be fine performers. Ive used mine for years and never been let down.
Low weight of 40% of that of steel but just as strong or stronger and knives being impervious to the elements are huge plusses in my book.
That MISSION knives are expensive in the eyes of some, means that they are not big sellers.
Few outside of MISSION, if any, can work Beta Ti, which is what you want for making knives.
Loads of inferior titanium knives out there means a bad rep for proper titanium knives like the Beta Ti MISSION knives.
Loads of people, who for the most part have never even held let alone used a MISSION Beta Ti knife for hard use for extended periods of time, spurt what they have heard others say; that titanium cant be used for knives, that you cant sharpen titanium and that it wont work in a utility or hunting knife. Utter nonsense. Present company exepted of course.
