Looking for reviews on the Mission MPS-10 TI Survival Knife.
Just got one for x-mas but I dont know much about them...
Please Help...................thanks, danny

I did a search, but didn't come up with anything but the sales writeups on the knife. Have you tried using it yet? Why don't you put it through it's paces and put up a review on the knife. Use it how you would use it in a survival situation. Cut brush back, hack limbs, cut cordage and rope, get to the heartwood of some rounds by bataning the knife, cut some feather sticks for fire making, use it for kitchen duty and take a bunch of picks. I'd sure be interested in reading and seeing how it does.

thanks for the reply, Im just not sure if I want to keep it, so I figuered Id see if anyone had a chance to use it outdoors but I think Im out of luck..thanks anyway...

I have used the MPK in Ti, nice knife if you don't need any chopping ability. Very tough, nice cutting ability and general handling. Very nice serration pattern, but avoid tough things like banded rubber or you will cut the serrations off.

thanks for your reply cliff, as usual your every helpful..
have you done any reviews on Ontarios TAK D2 ???????
I have bought alot of knives this year and have to start selling some, right now its between the mission i just got the dozier wilderness or the tak, i just dont need all 3 blades in that size.....any comments would be greatful..
thanks again or your time.....danny

No, my experiences with Ontario have been horrible QC wise, I like the general style of the blade though but would not pick that steel. Which one of those blades to pick would depend on what you want as two of them, the Dozier and Mission are at the extreme opposite ends. What generally do you want the knife for and what aspects of performance are most important to you and which ones don't you care about.

I need something for basic camp chores , light skinning and light chopping, ..
The steal on the TAK is D2 ....but from everything Ive read, dozier seems to be the master of D2......so what do you think???

That pretty much removes the Mission, it is geared towards in general heavier use and really corrosive enviroments, more for survival than camp craft. As for the other two, it is mainly an issue of chopping (RAT) vs cutting ability (Dozier), the Dozier would also have better edge holding and ease of resharpening and better sheath. I also like Dozier's grips for versatility but the security is rather low, note the difference in the guards. I would suggest at least a light trial with both knives, just some work in the kitchen to check the cutting ability and some wood work if possible to check penetration and fluidity as well as handling characteristics. This isn't going to effect the Dozier beyond having to sharpen it and will likely only produce some slight wear on the Rat coating thus won't decrease resale significantly. A lot of these issues such as ergonomics and handling are very person dependent and you really have to check them out in use, so see how they react to the forces applied.
