Which one would you all buy and which knife is the toughest? Which knife is better for everyday carry? Is there a better folder around? Between the two, which one is the better cutter. Who has better edge retention and ease in resharpeing? Can all of you share your thoughts and opinions with me?. I personally lean towards the Missions. I could be wrong. I want to hear your experiences if you have any. If you own either knife, tell what you think of it. Thanks for reading my forum!!

Both Mission and Strider have a variety of folders.

I think you should boil it down to the particular models.

AFAIK, the mission folder's selling point is the fact that it is completely titanium. AFAIK, titanium is not a great edge holding metal, but is completely non-ferrous so it will not rust and is not magnetic.

Strider's AR/GB and SnG folders are made with stainless steel blades, so you can expect good knife performance in regards to edge holding, sharpenability, and toughness.

Lateral toughness will vary according to size, no folder should be used in non-knife activities like hammering, heavy prying, etc.

So in the end, do you have a special requirement, like working in salt water for long periods of time? If so, the mission might be the way to go.

Personally, I favor the high flat ground spearpoint blades found on the Strider AR and SnG. They have a lot of utilitarian value. The tigerstripe finish and stonewash finishes camoflauge scuffs and scratches really well.

If anything, I would be comparing Extrema Ratio folders to Striders. I would still pick the striders because of the one hand operation. I do like the Fulcrum II D because it of the crossbolt locking device and is the most utilitarian of the bunch.

my 2 pennies.

The Mission folders also have the highly effective reverse ground serrations, and the very high toughness and flexibility inherent in the Beta-Ti. In addition they have the Integral locking mechanism which is far superior to the liner lock. They also offer A2 bladed folders.

Robert,

Everyday carry? Are you a soldier, a policeman/fireman, forest ranger, suit and time business man

Both knives have their merits but, are really different knives.

Strider's get their strength in part from sheer bulk. Mission uses Titanium so, it isn't nearly as heavy and has more graceful lines for the sheeple among us. Farid makes a hard use folder too but, it's appearance doesn't appeal to me.

Both are "good cutters" depending on what the material in question is. Edge retention cutting what? Paper, wire, soup cans, sisal rope loaded with sand?

I would say neither is better then the other, both are very good in their element. If I was into salt water scuba diving, I would carry a Mission Ti version. Here in the desert, the square block'ish brute force approach of the Strider's has some appeal and, I can wear the Strider like my pistol in public - YMMV :)
