With 2010 almost over, I decided to look at some of the knives that never quite made it in 2010. Sometimes what I think is a great idea really isn`t.

There's not a thing wrong with any of those patterns. Maybe they just didn't get enough views.

Hell, this is the first I'm seeing of the 2010 Anniversary Knife---check your PMs. :)

It`s gone, but I still have the pattern in the shop if you are interested in one. They went for $130. I believe they were 6 1/2" long with a 2 3/4" blade. I can check the pattern to be sure.

Hi Stomper -

I like most of those designs, all high quality stuff.

I would hope that more people would eventually want a nice, hand-made custom at a great price.

Next year is another year, and I know you save the patterns :D

best regards -

I think maybe the Pack Knife stole the Pocket Scandi's thunder? '10 AK knife was too similiar to the Lobo IMO. Who knows what people will like next year?

Yeah John, I don't really think that the problem was that enough people didn't see them or that nobody liked the designs. Hell, there isn't a pattern there that I wouldn't buy if I had the money! I think usually the problem is people having the money, even though I think your prices are the most resonable prices out there! If you don't have the money, it just isn't posible to do anything! I find it hard to look at most of you knives for very long when I am short on cash! I have to just back out of that site! Ha! Ha! That coufin pocket bowie is really nice looking, and so is that tacticle model! Sounds like you are getting some interest in them now! You have to remember a lot of people come and go on this forum too! It never sits still for very long, so you always have new people showing up all the time! Good luck Bud! Later!

i like the 2010 AK, but there's more knives i like than i have budget for.

but that does look like a short lobo.

i've never been a huge fan of chisel grinds. nothing wrong with 'em per se, just not my thing.

sometimes some designs take off, many designs don't. often works that way in many fields, not just knives. don't take any of it personally. the economy has been crappy which seems to have everyone's orders for everything down.

It really is just a byproduct of the times, many people do not have the discretionary funds for things like this or have restricted their purchases due to uncertainty. I am sure this will loosen up as things improve. Your work is top notch, your designs are excellent and your prices are more than reasonable. The buyers will return as you have a great formula for success.

I thought the same thing, that`s why I could never figure it out. The thing that got me is all the votes it got, but no orders. That`s one of the reasons (among others) that I`m not having a contest this year.

I like all of them John and believe there are many like me who had a tough year. Most new knives I got this year were from trades with fellow members. 2011 looks more promising, I have a new job and Pam has a part-time job that should eventually lead to full-time. The only reason I haven't placed an order recently is the need to waste money on things like taxes and insurance.

I wouldn't take it too personally/hard. These all look good, just a matter of finding your buyer. As said, this has been a rather miserable year for most, so hang in there.

Keep the inventory tight and if you have available shapes not selling, be sure you have an 'available' section on your site if you don't normally do that so that people have an easy way to see what is for sale.

It can get hectic in the for sale forum here trying to weed out by a particular maker what is actually still available for sale.

In general, many makers here don't have a site with a clear and up to date, 'available' list. Some sites have the section, but the inventory isn't current etc. It think this hinders business for sure....particularly for any impulse buyers and I'm sure I'm not the only guy known to suddenly just pull the trigger on a buy with little 'need' or planning.
