Of the Fusion Battle kind. This is my beater FBM with black coating and Mag G-10 grips. The coating became worn with use. And now it is time to strip her. When I stripped the FBM some rust was exppossed. Its INFI, so no worries. I rubbed the blade with some 220 and 600 grit sandpaper and no problems. She still needs some work, but this FBM is my workhorse.

After stripping. She still needs some work, but that is it for now.

It makes me happy to see a Busse being used and abused as it was meant to be.

Don't you love when you strip a Busse only to find it's the exact same color as before you stripped it? :D

All you need now is a can of spray paint and you are good to go. :D

.J/K :)

decarb layer, I believe. search for that phrase and you'll see older threads discussing this. some artifact of the heat treatment if I recall correctly. part of why the DC and Satin options are priced as they are, because it has to be removed.

someone please correct me if I'm mistaken here, but I think this is basically right.

Yes, INFI is usually a dull gray when stripped. It is not a primer, it is just the color of the metal surface. I'm not sure if it is the same as decarb. The decarb on the Competition Finish blades was shiny but rust prone. I don't know if anyone has stripped a coated blade and just left the gray to see if it rusts.

I did strip my black coated SS. It was gray underneath. I left it like that for a while, and no rusting. I did eventually hit the blade with a very down and dirty sanding. There are still several spots with the gray finish, like around the front and rear talon. No rust issues yet, and I have been swimming with it, and put it away wet etc.

But I don't live on the coast or anything.
