Well I went to town and talked this guy out of some Bamboo today.
Then went to work with the RC-3.

Is that fresh bamboo? Looks like it.. so those shavings are "wet"?? I didn't see Mistwalkers post about this..

No worries man, it just threw me off at first when I read the title. I was like "Wistwalker...who the heck is that?" lol.

No problem man, studies and experiments aren't anywhere near as much fun without others to share them with.

Yeah, really thin shavings of even fresh bamboo, which are easily made with a sharp knife, dry really quickly and ignite easily. On dry days I can just whittle the shavings from a standing stalk of bamboo and let it dry while I gather the rest of my materials and get everything ready to go.

I suppose I make 3. Never would have imagined something like this. Never came across Miswalkers post either. You live, you learn. Too bad there isnt too much bamboo growing in my neck of the woods.

This is good info to know, I spent alot of time in bamboo jungles and never knew you could use the green bamboo to start a fire that quickly. Thanks Mistwalker and Hawkeye 5 for all this great info!

Interesting to say the least. Never heard of that. Perhaps its time to start cultivating my own bamboo crop.

It's a pretty cool trick if there is bamboo and a sunny spot handy, works really well and dries really quick in the sun.

Thanks for the reply's, Nozyk, kgd, and RickJ.

Pay no heed to Ken, he was absolutely unimpressed with this the first time around when I did it. I don't sweat it...lol, he's a Canadian, I don't expect him to get my southern ways :D

If you get it started in your yard they say it will take over . Like Mist said the gift that keeps giving.
