I've only had this since April 30th and I've already carried it close to 30 miles. I sanded the (Cold Steel) handle and stained it a deep mahogany, then added the brass nails. I learned from this forum to keep hammering the head on and then taking it off and sanding the lip off of where it went. This gives a super fit. I love this thing. I'm a tree farmer, so I spend a lot of time walking on my land. This will be my constant companion for many years to come.

Here it is in a field of flowers:

It is an awesome feeling to rework a tool and that lightbulb comes on that this is really going to stick around!

I liken most of my tools to trying on boots, just because the quality is there does not mean it will fit your foot, but when it does... :)

Utah that looks amazing, great work! How did you get the Damascus finish on the steel please?

Sorry couldn't resist lol

I only fitted, stained, and tacked, the handle. I didn't have anything to do with forging the head. I wish I could. Craig Barr, at Deer Mountain Forge, did the work. He makes his own Damascus, and hardens it to a 58+. He doesn't use any kind of form. Each one is unique. This said "#5" whatever that means.

I name all my knives. It's one of the best parts of getting them.

Thank you Utah, I am buying two tomahawks as gifts for my friends sons and that Damascus is truly the way to go in my humble opinion. It is something that you really love or really hate. Again, that is a very handsome piece of working art, spot on old chap!
