Hi guys,

I just spent my WE on the sea coast near Venice. With me this time I picked up my new MuntjaX by our own S. Mitchell

The knife has a nice kydex sheath by Rapidboy

The MuntjaX has the usual Mr. Mitchell’s high quality fit and finish. I like especially the tapered tang

and the hollow pins

The steel used for this knife is the SF100

The SF100 it’s a stainless steel, so this should be good for the coastal environment
STEEL GRADE : SF.100
CARBON - 0.60% - 0.70%
SILICON - 0.50% MAX.
MANGANESE - 0.50% - 1.00%
CHROMIUM - 12.00% - 13.50%
SULPHUR - 0.025% MAX.
PHOSPHORUS - 0.03% MAX.

The MuntjaX it’s not a huge knife, it’s light and compact, what I like

Material for the trials, found on the beach

My first trial is for some feathers. This knife it’s a real cutter, great job on this very seasoned wood, also if I am nothing special on this task

My next job is a tent peg. I like this task because it’s include different way to carve wood (pointing, rounding, cutting, carving), so I may try the knife in several ways

How about the tip? Some holes on this wood, not bad at all, no problems; anyway I didn’t expect to push the MuntjaX too much on this, ‘cause of his thin tip

Cutting plastic. I’d like more a serrated knife for this job, anyway…

Ok, job done

After all that job, time for a break. My meal will be an apple with some bread. I like the thin and razor sharp blade of the MuntjaX (3,0 mm), as it allow me to peel fruit easily too

Conclusion: I like the MuntjaX, I like it a lot. If you are looking for a massive and sturdy Busse style knife that’s not for you, but if you are looking for a light, compact, very versatile and efficient knife I recommend it for sure

Ciao,
Alfredo

Thanks for this great review and the excellent photos! The knife looks like a great cutter. The only minor complaint would be that the edges of the hollow rivets seem to collect dirt (sand in this case), but that's about it. I assume you paid around 300 for this one?

Thank you. I have payed it something like 370 euros (520USD roughly).

Now, that's a very nice knife and some excellent photos. It looks to be a laser scalpel and very pleasing to the eye.
