I've been wearing a pair of thinsulate fleece mittens for years. they're plenty warm, but thin and light enough to still be able to use my hands without taking them off most of the time.

they're the only pair i have and they're still good, but they've gotten a bit rough. i want a pair to keep clean for office/city use and i can't find anything locally. pickings online are slim.

little help?

I'm interested in seeing the replies to this, also. I bought a pair of wool-and-thinsulate mittens at K-Mart some years back for the whopping sum of $5. They're still going strong, but I could use an upgrade for harder use.

Not to hijack the thread, just saying how I can relate and like the idea of thin, warm mittens.

I'm interested as well. I used to have a pair and really liked them but lost them years ago. Every season it seems like I get a new pair but haven't found anything that measured up.

I like mittens. I have two pair of "three fingered " mittens. They have a shooting index finger. Very handy but hard to find.Cabelas use to carry them .The index finger can be kept in the main pouch with the other fingers until needed.

thanks guys, some good choices here. i'm avoiding those convertible mitts/fingerless gloves because they still isolate your fingers.

This is the time of the year when you find mittens on sale. I like the wool ones, or wool and thinsulate. Besides the usual places like Kmart and Walmart, check the speciality stores like Cabelas, Bass Pro, Sportsman Warehouse, Gander Mt, ski shops, and REI. I have been wearing wool/thinsulate fingered gloves the last couple of years. But always have been a mitten fan for really cold weather.

Gloves with trigger fingers only seperate the index finger. Militaries use them.

The best mittens I have ever found are whitetail extreme glommits from Cabelas. They have magnets in them so that when you fold it back to expose your fingers the magnet holds it in place without the noise of velcro. I don't know if you can find them in "other than camo".
