Mix of Tenacious blade shape/grind with Manix 2 handle?

I love the blade shape/grind of my new Tenacious, but wanting a higher quality Spyderco to add to my collection, and the Manix 2 has an awesome looking handle/lock design. It is also much more affordable than a lot of other Spyderco models.

Is there a model that fits the bill? Also, must be a plain blade.

Thanks

There's one that is really similar to the Manix 2 that I think would fit the bill.

They call it the "Manix 2". :D

Seriously, though, any of the sprint run Manix-2s to date have full flat ground blades like the Tenacious with much improved steels. All are plain edge.

The one I found on Amazon isn't a full flat grind. Am I missing something?

That is not a sprint run. All regular versions come in 154CM and a Saber Grind just like the picture above

How much more do the sprint run versions usually go for? If it's too much, I might just try and find another flat grind Spyderco that doesn't have the Manix lock. Been looking at a carbon fiber sage.

Its not a 100% match but keep an eye out for the Super Leaf :D Soon to arrive . . .

Good call.

Forget the Manix. The handle jimping is very uncomfortable in actual use.

Funny, I find it to be just the opposite. It makes quite a comfortable work knife.

The sprint runs have a pretty wide range of prices. The most recent ones had green scales with XHP steel and orange scales with S30V steel. The Orange ones were around 110$, and the green ones were a bit more than that...

I love the Manix 2, and I'm also one who really likes the extra jimping.

Got four Manix 2s: Regular, Orange FFG, CTS, and black coated blade.

Sage1 or Sage3 will both be higher quality than the Tenacious with similar blade style. The Sages are very ergonomic like the Manix and the Sage3 will have a similar lock to the Manix. I'm not sure what the Sage3's are selling for though.

Agree with Hoopster on the Sage line. I've got the Sage 1 & 2. And, they get carried very often (work days / business attire). Manix 2s get weekend duty.

Not crazy about it myself, but the ParaMilitary 2 would probably be closest. Thumb ramp is a bit higher, but size, blade shape, and grind are all correct.

If you're mainly after the full flat grind of the Tenacious, you can get a Full flat ground Manix 2 sprint run, or maybe wait for the Manix 2 lightweight, which I believe will also be FFG. If you like the choil-less blade, with the edge going almost all the way to the handle, which can be found on the Tenacious, it's a little tougher. I actually can't think of any more exclusive Spyderco folder similar to the Tenacious that has that feature. Delica and Endura are choil-less too, but they're different of course. The Sage has a choil, but a very big one, which is very nice to put your finger on, that might be an idea. The choice is yours.

Definitely be easy to find, unless you work for the highway dept. and drop in in a pile of traffic cones. :D

000chevyscott,

I thought the same about the Sage I when I got it a couple of years ago. I bit my lip and ordered it. No regrets. Got it in my pocket right now. I really like the FFG blades.

Go for it.

The Sage is, at least for me, a more practical size for EDC, and the Sage I is among the most compelling overall packages out there in an EDC blade. The Manix is also great and probably better suited to heavy use. I personally like the jimping and find the Manix quite comfortable in hand.

I'm really thinking about picking one of these up, just having a hard time with the $120+ price tag. I've bought so many knives this past month already, more than I'll ever need really. But I can afford this knife, and it would be the highest quality knife I own, or at least up there with my Kershaw Boa.

That's a great choice. If the price tag is bothering you, you could also consider waiting for this one, if the FRCP handle scales aren't bothering you:
