This is a gun related forum at times so I thought this could fit in here. :)

This was a very cool evening! I don’t normally have this nice of a range to use and will enjoy going back. I started helping a local CSI Supervisor learn to make knives and the gesture has turned into a good give and take. He has a marked range at his home that’s about 30 min from me and on his families land.

Anyways –

Here is what I had with me.

My NEWLY acquired G19 2nd generation

AA Conversion Unit for it as well.

My 2 only and beloved AR’s

AND I ALSO HAVE A RECENTLY AQUIRED CMMG .22 Conversion FOR THE AR’S AS WELL!!!!!!

My main goal for tonight was getting my GEN 2 G19 test run for carry needs as well as give the AA .22 conversion kit a run for its money. The “OTHER MAIN GOAL” was to get my TA31-F ACOG hitting decent at 100 yards and to see what the CMMG .22 conversion kit was like for the AR platform as well.

Well – the day didn’t start or end like I expected but I ain’t scarred!!!

We charged ahead despite the weather we were working with for the day.

Once there I felt like I was in for a treat! A GOOD CLEAN SIMPLE RANGE TO THROW DOWN LEAD!!!

The first target is 50 yards and the to one is 100 yards. Sighting in a scope take time and patience and were were running against daylight so the end result is a GREAT starting point for the next trip.

Here is my last grouping of 4 at 100 yards before we called it a day.
Not GREAT but with a “Warm” barrel and I am sure a not so clean barrel I can live with this group.

The ACOG TA31-F is a great scope!!!! My eyes are not good but I could manage to get acceptable head shot groups at 100 yards all day long! I want to get my red dot sighted in for a 100 yard zero down the road as well. It’s a 50 yard zero now.

The CMMG conversion was cool!!! Went right along fine using Winchester Super X (Forget the actual name of the ammo) which I read the conversions didn’t like. I did have 1 FTF with the Winchester brand but CCI mini mags were flawless.

Also the Conversion kit for the G19 was VERY SWEET!!!!!!! It had some FTF as well but I think it was related to me having the rounds in the mag. weird. I had a few nose dives but No problem! That’s what training is for. TAP and RACK BANG baby!!!

This conversion kit will be EXCELLENT for the wife and daughter to get a better feel for shooting than NOT wanting to try a slightly more felt recoil 9mm.

All in all I am very pleased with the way the gear runs and look forward to more lead going downrange. I wanted to use the .22 conversions for a more “less dramatic” shooting experience for my grandmothers neighbors where I shoot. Plinking is a lot more fun and cheaper when your limited to certain distances and backdrops to shoot into. The .22 will get used more than I thought! It was great fun and I could tell my hand gun shooting was easier to work on proper trigger control and learn my G19’s like I want to learn them!

AINT NOTHIN’ LIKE THE REAL DEAL THOUGH

Looks like fun! Is that your first G19? I think you'll really enjoy it. I have a later model, but it's my favorite gun. I have it right here with me. One of the best defensive weapons ever made, IMO.

I have a Gen 3 G19 too. I actually think I liek the Gen 2 better but I like the light rail on the Gen 3 also.

That AA kit can be finnicky depending on ammo, mine loves remington gold bullets. I have heard CCI runs good too. However each of them seem to have their 1% duds so yeah IA Drills baby. Best training piece of equipment I have ever bought.

Thanks for review, Good review, really nice AR15s. Funny, I’ve been looking for and want to get a .22 kit for a full auto M16. I know the .22 kit you have is only for semi auto. Does anyone know (besides Ciener) of a full auto .22 conversion kit for M16? Im glad your AR15 convrsn. .22 kit ran well. I heard and read alot of problems occur with those kits and that a dedicated upper is best for reliability. It has to do with the diameter of the .223 bbl (.224) versus the dedicated .22 bbl (.222). I have a great appreciation for Trijicon, & I love the ACOG scopes. I own a Reflex & Accupoint 3-9x40 scopes, but for $ reasons II went with the Eotech 552 & 3x magnifier. I bought the whole Eotech pkg. For $ 635, versus $1000 for the ACOG. FYI, the Eotech 3x magnifier is actually 3.25 X magnification (@$400) and the 4 X is actually 3.75 magnification (@$700) . FYI, Mako produces a 3x (@ $100) & 5x (@ $150)magnifiers for red dot sights (just scope, no rings or base). I also read that these work well for the price.

I don't own any glocks but i've heard some stuff about them and a couple of issues.....Let me see if i can find the video.

oh yea here it is...

Not really worried about a KaBoom. If I ever get worried I'll just keep shooting this bad boy :)

Do some research. Kabooma happen in every platform and ever brand given the right scenerio.

I am not letting hype get in the way of my enjoyment as I have plenty of ammo downrange and have not had any problems. As I am sure many of us are in the same boat........stick with 9mm Glocks and dont stress over it.

Much better shot with the Baer anyways :)

Thats why I am making the effort to tighten up my groups on the Glock platform. but then again this group aint so bad either :)

Or screw it - I'll just go old school and carry this around :)

I never liked Glocks either, until I fired one. Compared to other pistols out there, Glocks are hard to beat (service & price). You don't see too many LEO departments stray from Glocks either. In my area, departments have changed from 9mm to 40 cal., but still Glocks are carried anyway !!

I am still a beginer, but I decided a while ago that my fist handgun would be a glock -it was after I shot a glock 19 too. My stepdad lets me shoot his guns prety often (colt .45, S&W .44 mag, small saturday night special, luger, and a G19) and I have found that my bullets connect every time with the Glock. I dont know if its the sights, the ergos, or everything but it just works for me.
