What are your thoughts on leather/wood or other mixed media sheaths?
I’ve been noodling it around for a monster of a… zombie cleaver maybe? However you want to categorize it. I would call it (the sheath) a concept in originality, but really the idea was more to cut the amount of leather needed. Absolutely hate the sound of a knife rattling around in a sheath though (Buck 105 I’m looking at you).
All-leather, I think I would need to double up 8-9oz for the sides, and a 6-8oz welt, which is why I started thinking about wood or something to provide the structural integrity and conserve the leather for other projects.
