What type of mixed seasonings do you keeps in your BOB or hunting pack? I like Mitch's Oh Yeah Seasoning, but will need to find a replacement soon, because they are now out of business.

If you cannot replace exactly, you might check the label of your favourite Mitch's to see what the main ingredients are.

I am thinking that garlic and cayenne pepper are basic to a lot of the blended spices; aroma and heat most always go over well. Beyond these and salt/pepper, powdered horseradish adds a nice tang too.

Most spices are available in bulk packs that are more economic, light and re-sealable; always check 'best before' dates on spices.

On prolonged camps I would include chili powder, crushed red pepper, curry powder, onion powder, onion flakes, poultry seasoning, tumeric (for colour and depth in soups etc.)

Hey, Mitch's may be a blend of any/many of the above!

I like driftcreek gourmet seasonings - they offer smoked seasonings in a few varieties - and they also have small samplers that would be good for a BOB (if you need to keep size and weight to a minimum) .

What is cool is that the drift creek seasonings are smoked, which adds a unique flavor to your foods.

In addition, the owner and head chef at DCG is affiliated with our own forum denizen, protourist (Mack), which makes it even better to patronize them.

You can easily find their web site using google - I recommend the landlubber mix and any of the smoked salt and pepper.
