Hey all hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.Well went and spent my
X-mas money on a MK VI single cross guard.Yup I've never seen one before
the shop owner told me it was one of two made for a soldier deploying
anyone ever heard of this,It looks just like a Mountaineer II the grind is lower
I think, but the box and the card both say MK VI single cross guard.
Signed by the man himself

I have several of CRK one piece knives. The single guard version is a Mountaineer II. I also have a Mark VI. The only real difference is the lack of a top crossguard. The sheaths are different. The Mountaineer II slips into the case and has no snap, while the Mark VI sheath has a snap that goes across the cross guard.

I've had a CRK tanto made in South Africa sold awhile back when funds
where low.regret it everyday. What I can't figure out is why this is called
a MK VI single cross guard not a Mountaineer II.I love the knife it's the perfect
size and weight edge geometry is superb.I think I'll call Chris Reeve knives on
Monday and inquire maybe they'll remember it was made back in '06

sometimes we get special requests. the original buyer probably liked the grind and profile of the MKVI (it is a little different from the mtneer) but the single guard of the mountaineer and we filled the order. good acquisition. i'm glad you like it. :)

That being said can you grind the top hilt off the Green Beret and no serrations:D

No, CRK does not make those types of changes to the GB. Unlike the one piece range of knives, the Green Beret, Pacific, and Neil Roberts are all knives that were completed as collaborations, and as such, the guiding principle has been to keep these knives intact in terms of form and function.

Bummer, that would be one sweet blade,I can understand why,I kinda figured it
out after I posted due to the collaborations. But it doesn't hurt to ask:D

That is a sweet knife!

On a side note, always good to see a neighboring knife knut. Im stuck here in Klamath Falls, but I always make my way north to Bend for the quality stores that feed my addiction.

Klamath Falls -- now THAT'S beautiful country!

I agree..... We are just getting out of the near 2ft of snow that fell since before Christmas. But if you are looking for an outdoor paradise, its the place to be! Hiking Mt. Mcloughlin, fishing the Williamson, or rafting the Klamath are just some of the summertime activities my buddies and I do.

I cant wait for this upcoming year though, after reading all of the forums this year has given me all kinds of ideas for my hiking trips this season! Now that I have a finer appreciation for the gear that I carry (last year I used a Gerber Mk 1 boot dagger for my camp knife), and a lot of helpful tips from the forums, Im looking forward to some wooded isolation!

Well hello neighbor, we were suppose to get snow today but all it did was blow wind and rain.the Cascade lakes make for one fine summer for camping,
this summer I'm to try camping 1 lake a weekend.now the holidays are over it's time for winter camping trips.

Gives me excuses to play with my knives:D
