MKI steel

If I was going to start producing a MkI knife with a modern knife steel what should I use and why? Something really tough and strong.

The knife will be marketed as a busch craft/general purpose knife. No stainless steels please.

It doesn't get any tougher than 3V steel.
A2 steel may be a more economical choice. Plus it comes precision ground alot of the time.
